Fashion influencer creating Instagram content for a brand collaboration campaign

How to Find Fashion Influencers on Instagram

Whether you’re a Jaipur-based brand or looking to collaborate with local creators, finding the right fashion influencer on Instagram is the first step. Most fashion brands focus on running influencer marketing campaigns, but few of them know how to find relevant influencers on Instagram in the first place.

If you’ve ever searched for fashion influencers on Instagram, you’ve probably come across the same advice repeatedly—use hashtags, influencer platforms, or search for creators with large followings.

The trouble is, all brands are doing just that.

It used to be simpler to discover influencers a couple of years ago because there weren’t as many creators attempting to get attention. But now, there are thousands of fashion influencers who are posting the same content on a daily basis.

With a hashtag-based strategy, you will reach out to the same creators that many other brands will reach out to as well.

Fortunately, there are smarter ways to discover fashion influencers. Many highly engaged creators never appear in popular hashtag searches. Instead, they can be found in places that most marketers overlook.

Proven Methods to Discover Fashion Influencers on Instagram

1. Check the Tagged Posts Section of Fashion Brands

This is likely one of the most overlooked tactics on Instagram.

When searching for creators, I rarely start by looking for influencers directly. Rather, I visit fashion brands that sell products similar to mine and explore their tagged posts section.

You may find creators you wouldn’t find through traditional methods. Many creators purchase their own products, post styling videos, and tag the brand. Many of these creators have smaller audiences, but their followers are highly engaged and trust their recommendations.

For example, let’s say you sell female ethnic wear. You can visit the Instagram account of a popular ethnic wear brand and browse its tagged posts to see if there’s a creator with 18,000 followers who consistently posts outfit styling videos.

While she doesn’t identify as an influencer, her followers are already fashion and shopping enthusiasts.

2. Look at Who Fashion Influencers Follow

The majority of people check out followers. Very few people are paying attention to the accounts that influencers are following.

Fashion creators typically follow other fashion creators. That’s why finding one good influencer often helps you find more.

For instance, if you discover a creator who shares outfit inspiration and styling tips, open her Following list and start exploring. You’ll see a pattern after a few minutes. A lot of the accounts she follows produce related material and reach a similar audience.

Think of this method as Instagram’s version of a referral network.

3. Use search Locations rather than Hashtags

Hashtags are often overcrowded, while location tags are usually much cleaner.

Fashion influencers often attend exhibitions, fashion events, store launches, and shopping festivals. At these events, creators share photos and reels from the event.

For example, if there’s a fashion exhibition in Delhi, seek it out in that location on Instagram. You won’t be competing with millions of hashtag posts; you will see people who were there at the event.

Many of them are still developing, and they have yet to begin charging high collaboration fees.

4. Read the comment sections like a marketer

Many marketers overlook the comments section completely. That’s a mistake.

Comment sections often reveal emerging creators before they become widely known.

When the next fashion brand posts a reel, take some time to check out the comments. Some users leave thoughtful styling suggestions instead of random emojis.

When you visit their profile, you will often discover that many of them are fashion creators.

This approach is effective because creators will spend their time interacting with brands in their niche.

5. Find influencers on Pinterest

This may seem odd, but for many marketers, Pinterest has come up with influencers before Instagram did.

Pinterest is a place for fashion creators to share outfit ideas, seasonal looks, and styling inspiration. If the creator’s content is doing well on Pinterest, there’s a good chance that they have an Instagram account as well.

For example, search for terms like “Summer Outfit Ideas for Women” on Pinterest. Open a few pins that stand out and verify the creator’s profile. Many creators link their Instagram profile to Pinterest.

The benefit of this is simple. When looking for influencers, most of the brands never search Pinterest, which means you will find so many creators before they are contacted by the brands.

Final Thoughts

Finding fashion influencers on Instagram isn’t just about identifying creators with the largest followings.

The best partnerships often come from discovering creators who have highly engaged audiences and genuine influence within their niche.

By exploring tagged posts, location pages, comment sections, Pinterest, and creator networks, brands can uncover valuable influencers before their competitors do.

Instead of asking, “Who has the most followers?” focus on asking, “Who has earned the trust of their audience?” That’s where the most successful influencer collaborations begin.
